A “must” of L’Italiana Aromi’s policy is product quality and continuous innovation. As a matter of fact, the production has been diversified for a few years now. As well as the solid beverage, confectionery, bakery and dairy product, yoghurt, dessert and alcoholic drinks sectors, the new savoury and nutraceutical segments have now been added. For the Beverage sector we produce flavourings and natural flavourings, infusions and extracts of black, green, white, yellow and rooibos tea, infusions and extracts of herbs, flowers and roots, flavoured fruit juice blends, also, enriched with vitamins and functional ingredients, concentrated fruit extracts, spray-dried flavours and extracts and natural colours.
The production department is equipped with distillers, extractors and with vacuum deterpenation plants and concentrators working at low temperature and therefore able to preserve heat–sensitive products. Two spray-dryers for powder flavours with a total 1,500-kg daily output. A PLC managed blending station for fruit-based, flavoured mixes and compounds with a daily production of over 50 tons and a complete unit dedicated to the production of brewed tea infusions.
Other important production equipment are two sophisticated robot plants, located in the production unit and in the application laboratory. They operate 24 h a day weighing the recipes prepared by the flavourists. Both are managed by a software connected with the company ERP system, so absolute secrecy of the formulation is guaranteed. The bigger robot is used for the automated production of concentrated flavourings that translates into always fresh and high quality products. The smaller one is used for the weighing of new flavour recipes thus allowing the flavourists to dedicate themselves entirely to the development work.

Since 1988, when the first ice-tea drink bottled in PET in Europe was formulated in the R&D Laboratory at L’Italiana Aromi, such drinks have been rapidly gaining market shares, first in Italy then all over the world.

Around 2006, when we felt traditional ice tea market had reached its maturity, we started developing a new tea drink concept: ready-to-bottle brewed tea. Brewed tea has been gaining popularity among consumers, because it is prepared as a traditional home made tea infusion and therefore has the same organoleptic profile. It is prepared brewing Ceylon tea leaves in hot water for 5 minutes. The high polyphenols content and the colour come exclusively from the tea leaves. After the production we add sugar, ascorbic acid and the flavours. No other industrial processes are applied to produce our brewed tea.
Our recipes allow the finished product standardization, independently from the chosen packaging system (PET, tetrapak, glass, cans) and from the chosen bottling facility.
